The company's patented cotton insulated semi-flex air ducts are treated with EPA-registered borate solution to offer protection from mold, mildew, bacteria, and fungi, the manufacturer says. The insulation has a density of 2.2 pounds per cubic foot, is made of recycled cotton, and has a thermal resistance value of R8-plus, says the company. The insulation surrounds the inner core, which consists of a heavy-gauge wire and is spaced every 3/8 to 1 inch, depending on the size of duct. The metallized Mylar® jacket is reinforced with a heavy crosshatched scrim. According to the company, the air ducts will not collapse or allow condensation to form.
