The LloydStatâ„¢ is a reusable, resettable thermal disk link for select smoke/fire damper equipment. It closes and locks the damper in smoke detection, fire conditions, and power failure through an actuator closure spring, states the company. It is designed to react faster than fusible links for greater safety and property protection, and to prevent duct damage via a controlled closing mechanism. The device allows a spring return to close the damper slowly, within 10 to 15 seconds, according to the manufacturer. Because it stays connected to the actuator, the gradual damper closing prevents the potential for costly duct disruption or collapse, says the company. Once the unit temperature cools below the sensor setpoint, the unit is designed to automatically return the damper to the open position from outside the duct via a reset button.
