GeneralAire AC-1 and AC-4 air cleaners are rated by independent laboratory tests at MERV 10 under ASHRAE Standard 52.2-1999. The company says the AC-1 is easily installed in most forced-warm-air heating systems. It has over 78 square feet of microfiber filtering media to remove pollen, mold, dust, animal dander, grease, soot, and tobacco smoke in homes. Designed for smaller houses where the airflow is less than 1,400 CFM, the AC-4 uses 62 square feet of microfiber filter media to remove 99% by weight of airborne particles, the company says.
