Invisible Service Technician: Remote Monitoring Device
March 23, 2005
The Invisible Service Technician (IST) monitor is a remote monitoring and diagnostic device for light commercial and residential heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems. The monitor provides key operating data that a contractor requires to detect and diagnose developing problems before they cause a failure in the customer's equipment, the manufacturer says. It consists of a monitor with 10 sensors and six open sensor inputs, mounted on a customer's equipment and connected to their phone line. The system monitors multiple operating parameters and immediately notifies the manufacturer's data center if a problem is detected. The data center then alerts the servicing contractor and provides enough operating data for the contractor to diagnose the developing problem without having to visit the customer's site, states the company.
