The Metal Welder™ is a structural methacrylate adhesive designed specifically for bonding metals (such as aluminum, cold-rolled steel, stainless steel, and copper) to other metals or materials such as ABS, PVC, plexiglass, PMMA, polycarbonate, and polyesters, says the company. The adhesive eliminates the potential for loosening or leaks that can occur when stresses are concentrated at individual fasteners, the company says. According to the manufacturer, it requires minimal surface preparation and cures at room temperature in about one hour. It produces permanent, load-bearing bonds that are resistant to weathering, humidity, temperatures up to 250 degrees F and thermal shock, the company states. Tensile shear strength is 2,450 psi as tested on grit-blasted steel with a bond-line thickness of 0.010 inch. It is available in 50 ml and 490 ml cartridges.
