Residential Hydronic Heating Is Topic Of Connecticut Course
RSES's Central Connecticut Chapter will host the two-day course, which will take place Nov. 1-2, 2003, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Best Western Colonial Inn in East Windsor, Conn.
The new program is an updated and revitalized version of the hydronics instruction course that has been conducted for decades by the Institute of Boiler and Radiator Manufacturers (I=B=R), which later became the Hydronics Institute, and now is the Hydronics Institute Division of GAMA.
Attendees will learn about residential heating system design, installation of components, boilers and radiation, piping and wiring, and accessories.
Course topics to be covered include: what hydronics is and why to use it; heat loss calculations; boiler location, sizing, piping, and wiring; basic controls; special controls for energy savings and comfort; heat emitters; venting systems, chimneys, and air supply; distribution piping layout and sizing; selection and sizing of circulators; zoning; installation tips; component wiring; electrical schematics; limits, pressure controls, and temperature controls; and customer relations.
Dan Almeida, an expert installer for more than 20 years and teacher from New England, will lead the course.
Course registration fees are $395 and include lunch, beverages, and a copy of Residential Hydronic Heating ... Installation/Design, a 400-page textbook with more than 200 color illustrations.
