ALEXANDRIA, Va. - The Construction Specification Institute (CSI) recently changed a decision it made over divisions within the MasterFormat. CSI had originally decided to reconsolidate former Division 15 specifications under the proposed Division 21 Mechanical. The group has now decided to break up the scope of the Mechanical Division into separate Plumbing (Div. 20) and HVAC (Div. 21) divisions.
The revised MasterFormat is now scheduled for completion in July 2004.
Other issues in the HVAC division that remain undecided concern whether to keep life cycle activities, services, instrumentation, controls, and commissioning under general HVAC services or move them under a particular set of HVAC services in a separate subdivision.
