Home » June 6, 2006: April Central Air Shipments Down, Heat Pump Shipments Up
ARLINGTON, Va. - Combined U.S. factory shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps for April totaled 542,542, down 20.1 percent compared with shipments from the same month last year, according to Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) statistics. Total shipments through April of 2,522,530 units are up 8 percent compared to the same period last year.
On the other hand, heat pump shipments for April were up, totaling 173,009, a 2.5 percent increase compared with the same month last year. The year-to-date total of 748,279 is up 22 percent from January-April 2005
April distributor shipments were down 7.2 percent from April 2005, with year-to-date shipments up 11.7 percent.
