WESTBURY, NY — Two new Spectroline® LeakFinder™ BigEZ™ kits are said to provide the tools needed to pinpoint refrigerant leaks quickly, accurately and economically in large air conditioning systems.

Each kit features the BigEZ multi-dose dye injector, designed to eliminate pouring, measuring, and spills when adding fluorescent dyes to air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Dye is injected through one connection to the system’s low-side service port. And since the dye is introduced mechanically, no additional refrigerant is needed to propel the dye into the system, the company says.

Both kits include a 1/4-inch flare hose with check valve. The BEZ-400CS kit contains a 4-ounce (120-ml) mineral oil dye cartridge. The BEZ-400ECS kit has a 4-ounce (120-ml) polyolester (universal) dye cartridge. Each prefilled cartridge contains enough AR-GLO® fluorescent dye to treat air conditioning and refrigeration systems with up to 16 gallons of lubricant.

The disposable dye cartridges are calibrated in 1/8-ounce (3.75-ml) increments, so technicians can more precisely add dye, with the turn of a handle, says the company. The recommended dosage ratio is 1 ounce of dye for every 100 pounds of refrigerant or 38 tons of cooling.
