Three models of remote access devices, the Ether232, Ether422, and the Ether485, connect standalone serial equipment, such as that for building automation or energy management systems, to LANs or WANs via Ethernet. In real time, users can remotely manage all of their devices from any location on the network, says the manufacturer. The new features on these improved products include an SNMP agent for network management, a new user-downloadable Web page for customized information storage, and a remote communications port control feature, which allows the user to remotely manage the device’s serial port as if locally connected to a PC, the company says.
