Shipments Up In November
ARLINGTON, Va. — According to the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI), combined U.S. factory shipments of 357,859 central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps for November were up 7 percent compared to shipments from the same month last year. Heat pump shipments of 92,712 were down 4 percent compared to last November, while combined unitary shipments for the first 11 months are 7 percent ahead of last year’s shipments.
Factory stocks for November 2002 were up 14,633 units from October 2002 and up 76,360 units from November 2001. Distributor inventories for November 2002 were up 12,293 units from October 2002 and down 177,574 units from November 2001. November 2002 distributor shipments were down 9 percent from November 2001 with year-to-date shipments up 7 percent.
