BOCA RATON, FL — Jack Desmond, of Cox Engineering Co., Canton, MA, will serve as president-elect of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractor’s National Association (SMACNA). His term began Oct. 24, at the close of the association’s annual convention here in Boca Raton.

A member of SMACNA’s board from 1995-99, Desmond is chairman of the Investment Committee and Strategic Planning Committee. He also is a member of the International Training Institute board of trustees, the National Energy Management Institute board of directors, and the Testing and Research Institute Task Force.

He previously served as chairman of SMACNA’s Technical Resources Committee, as well as on the Consolidators Task Force, and as a member of the National Energy Management Institute board of directors.

Desmond is a past president of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors of the Building Trades Employers Association, Quincy, MA, has served as chairman of its Industry Promotion Fund, was on the local Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, and was a trustee to the Health and Welfare Fund. He also served as chairman of the Northeast Sheet Metal Contractors Council.

Desmond races offshore sailboats in his spare time, and resides in Concord, MA, with his wife and four children.
