Manufacturers for the Week: Manitowoc Company, Inc., REHAU Inc., Ebtron, Inc., Mestek Inc. and Hoffman

Commenting on its outlook for the third quarter, the Manitowoc Company, Inc. (Manitowoc, WI) expects that net sales for the quarter will be in the range of approximately $205 million to $215 million compared with the $213.9 million reported a year ago. Diluted earnings per share are expected to be in the range of $.47 to $.52 compared with last year’s $.74. The company said an unusual combination of factors will contribute to the quarter's disappointing results.

REHAU Inc. (Leesburg, VA) announces that it has been awarded a contract to install a turf conditioning system at the new Cincinnati Bengals football stadium in Cincinnati, OH. The system will use radiant heating, and nearly 40 miles of PEX pipe, to keep the field maintained at 60Â° to 65Â°F at the root zone in order to promote grass growth and facilitate turf management.

The Brengel Technology Center in Milwaukee, WI is a showcase for Johnson Controls’ latest technologies. The building also uses IAQ Enforcer™ instrumentation from Ebtron, Inc. (Loris, SC) for airflow control, employing the firm’s microprocessor-based TD (thermal dispersion) measurement technology in a digitally networked system.

Mestek Inc. (Westfield, MA) and Alpha Technologies Group Inc. (Beverly Hills, CA) have announced the signing of a definitive agreement for the purchase by Alpha of Mestek's National Northeast subsidiary in Pelham, NH, which is engaged in the aluminum heat sink business. According to Mestek, the divestiture is in keeping with its policy to concentrate on its core areas.

Hoffman (Anoka, MN) announces that it is co-sponsoring the #4 Porter-Cable Pontiac race car in the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series 2000. The car is driven by Jeff Purvis of the Joe Gibbs racing team.
