TriStar Conversion™ retrofits are for owners who want to replace an existing chiller but, due to difficult access or limited space in the equip-ment room, physically cannot install a new unit, says the company. Only parts of the chiller are removed and/or replaced. This means that equipment doesn’t have to be torn out, openings or walls don’t have to be reconfigured or removed, and piping may not have to be reworked, the company says. The retrofit reuses the existing low-pressure centrifugal chiller’s shells, but replaces the compressor, motor, and sometimes the economizer.
