EPA/SNAP Name SP34E An Acceptable Substitute

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), under the Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) program, added SP34E™ to the list of acceptable refrigerants by Official Notice 14 printed in the U.S. Federal Register (Volume 65, Number 243).

The EPA/SNAP program was established to identify alternatives or substitutes to ozone-depleting substances. The EPA publishes SNAP lists of acceptable and unacceptable substitutes in the context of particular use conditions.

The approval of SP34E enables it to be used as an acceptable substitute for R-12 in virtually all applications except centrifugal chillers.

“SP34E has passed some of the most stringent requirements worldwide for use as a replacement refrigerant,” said Mark Robinson, president and ceo of Solpower Corp. “We are now in the final stages of finalizing a distribution agreement with a U.S. company that has a national network.”

A marketing campaign will be launched for the 2001 season to put the company on target to meet its projected revenues of $40 million within 18 months.
