CHANTILLY, VA — The Architectural Sheet Metal Council of the Sheet Metal and Air-Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA) and the Construction Management and DesignBuild Professional Interest Areas (PIA’s) of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) have jointly developed the Contractors Qualification Checklist an addendum to AIA Document A305, the Contractors Qualification Statement. Richard Hayes of the AIA said, “While member usage will vary based on the project needs, consistent use of the Contractors Qualification Checklist will create a clearinghouse of contractor specialties that the architect can maintain for their individual needs.” Efforts are underway to issue the qualification checklist as an addendum to AIA Document A305 and will also be available for downloading at www.smacna.org and at the AIA website, www.e-architect.com, in the PIA section.
