Professor P. Ole Fanger, director of the International Centre for Indoor Environment and Energy at the Technical University of Denmark, was named an Honorary Member of the Japanese Society of Heating, Air-Conditioning and Sanitary Engineering (SHASE) on May 15 in Tokyo. Fanger received the reward for his research work on the indoor environment and its impact on humans, and for his contribution to academic and industrial development in Japan over many years. SHASE has more than 20,000 members; Fanger is the first non-Japanese Honorary Member in the organization’s 84-year history. He is also an honorary member of hvacr engineering societies in 10 countries and a member of seven academies, including the National Academy of Engineering (U.S.) and the Royal Academy of Engineering (U.K.).
