Nov. 7, 2006: HVACR & Plumbing Instructor Workshop Is Set for March

November 7, 2006
LANSDOWNE, Va. - The HVACR & Plumbing Instructor Workshop will be held March 28-30, 2007, at the National Conference Center in Lansdowne. Building upon the success of the 2006 workshop, nine organizations across the HVACR and plumbing industry spectrum are joining forces once again to provide educational sessions for plumbing and HVACR instructors from across the country.

The 2007 HVACR & Plumbing Instructor Workshop is a way for instructors to learn about the latest industry issues and instructional techniques and gain access to industry experts.

Instructors have been instrumental in identifying topics and speakers they believe would be most beneficial to their professional development. On the educational session slate for 2007 are topics such as:

  • Psychrometrics and comfort

  • Refrigeration fundamentals

  • Building sciences

  • EPA Section 608 Certification update: R-22 phase-out

  • New joining processes for copper and copper alloys

  • Introducing the sheet metal trade into an educational program

  • Right-sizing hydronics

  • Digital electric motor theory

  • Computer technology

  • Teaching the fundamentals of electricity

The workshop will also focus on the enhancement of instructional classroom techniques. Maximizing learning with PowerPoint, student recruitment, designing curriculum and instructional materials for adult learners, using simulation software for teaching HVACR troubleshooting, and distance learning using technology are some of the classroom skill topics to be discussed.

In addition, the following companies/organizations will be exhibiting at the 2007 HVACR & Plumbing Instructor Workshop: the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA); the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI); Building Performance Institute (BPI); Council of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Educators (CARE); Carrier; Copper Development Association; Delta Faucet Co.; Emerson Climate Technologies; Ferris State University; Fieldpiece; Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association (GAMA); GE/Regal Beloit; Hydro Delta; InSinkErator; Lennox; North American Technician Excellence (NATE); NIBCO Inc.; Pennsylvania College of Technology; Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors-National Association (PHCC); Prentice Hall; Rheem; Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES); Thomson Delmar Learning; and Trane.

Lodging and registration costs are $166 plus tax per night for a single room, which also includes all educational sessions, meals, and refreshment breaks. For those not staying at the National Conference Center, the cost to attend is $60 plus tax each day, which includes all educational sessions, meals and refreshment breaks.

The 2007 HVACR & Plumbing Instructor Workshop is sponsored by ACCA; ARI; CARE; GAMA; Heating, Airconditioning and Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI); NATE; PHCC Educational Foundation; RSES; and SkillsUSA.

To register for the 2007 workshop, contact ARI at 703-524-8800 or www.ari.org.
