A.O. Smith Debuts New Tankless Commercial Water Heater

NEW MODEL: A.O. Smith has released the latest in its Adapt line of high-efficiency tankless water heaters, the Adapt Premium condensing commercial water heater.
ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. — A.O. Smith has launched the Adapt Premium condensing commercial water heater.
Joining A.O. Smith’s Adapt line of high-efficiency tankless water heaters, the Adapt commercial model is engineered to meet the rigorous demands of high-volume hot water applications, an A.O. Smith press release said.
At the heart of the Adapt commercial unit is A.O. Smith’s patented heavy-duty single stainless steel helical heat exchanger. Designed based on A.O. Smith’s flagship Cyclone commercial water heating line, the helical construction improves thermal efficiency and corrosion resistance, the press release said. The design requires fewer weld points, resulting in a more robust heat exchanger with fewer potential leak points than other tankless models.
Delivering a 199,000 Btu input and with a uniform energy factor (UEF) of 0.95, the Adapt commercial unit can handle demanding large-scale needs without sacrificing efficiency, the press release said.
“The Adapt commercial unit is the culmination of innovative engineering and practical design, providing customers with a reliable, energy-efficient commercial hot water solution that adapts to their unique needs,” said Matt Baranuk, portfolio director at A.O. Smith. “This unit is powered by A.O. Smith’s long-trusted Cyclone technology to not only deliver outstanding performance, but also support sustainability goals by reducing energy consumption and emissions. We’re excited to expand our tankless portfolio and bring more efficiency-focused models to the commercial space.”
Installation is made easier with flexible 2- or 3-inch venting options. An outdoor vent cap kit allows for universal installation and compatibility with ½-inch and ¾-inch gas lines, reducing the need for costly modifications. The Adapt commercial model is convertible from natural gas to propane with an included kit, eliminating the need for multiple models and simplifying inventory management.
Adapt commercial units are Energy Star certified and comply with Ultra Low NOx emissions standards. The model’s scalable cascade capability allows up to 32 units to be connected and can common-vent up to 12 units, providing a seamless solution for large-scale hot water demands.
Durability and long-term reliability are further enhanced by X3 scale prevention technology, available as an optional kit for installations with return temperatures below 120°F. This technology protects the heat exchanger from scale buildup and extends the unit’s lifespan up to three times that of standard tankless models, the company said. The unit is ideal for new construction, as it was designed for ease of installation and optimized space savings, the company said.
