LG Expands Heat Pump Training Facility in Derby

LONDON — LG Electronics (LG) has expanded its Air Conditioning and Energy Solutions Academy with the launch of a new training location in Derby, delivered in collaboration with the Heat Pump Central Training Academy. The expansion will increase access to hands on heat pump and HVAC training, supporting the development of a skilled workforce needed to scale low-carbon heating in the UK.
The Derby facility provides practical, in-person training for LG heating and user interface technologies, allowing engineers to gain real-world experience of working with the equipment. In addition, Heat Pump Central offer nationally recognised BPEC training on heat pump systems, an industry leading MCS Umbrella Scheme and a fast-track support pathway to MCS Accreditation. Once trained, new installers can move into the industry without confusion or delay.
The expansion comes as demand for heat pump installations continues to rise, but the industry faces considerable shortages of trained engineers.
Sachin Vibhute, technical consultant and product training manager at LG, said, "Manufacturers are already playing their part in driving long-term momentum, helping to train a skilled workforce prepared to meet the evolving demands of HVAC installation and maintenance. But to scale heat pump installations, we need continued focus on training installers, clearer consumer guidance and long-term policy support. Without this, we risk losing momentum at a critical point in the UK’s energy transition.”
“Heat pumps only deliver efficient heating when systems are correctly specified and installed, which is why training is essential to ensure engineers have the skills needed to match the right to help deliver reliable performance.”
The UK expansion builds on LG’s wider global investment in heat pump technologies, including consortium-based research programmes across Europe, North America and Asia, focused on improving heat pump efficiency, dependability and performance across diverse climates.
