Bosch Acquires JCI's Residential and Light Commercial Business for $8 Billion
An HVAC Minute Video Update: August 20, 2025
Bosch has officially completed its largest acquisition in company history, finalizing the $8 billion purchase of Johnson Controls’ residential and light commercial HVAC business and the Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning joint venture. The deal nearly doubles Bosch’s Home Comfort division, now employing more than 25,000 people and generating over $8.6 billion in annual sales. The acquisition significantly expands Bosch’s footprint in the Americas and Asia, positioning it as one of the largest global suppliers of residential and small commercial HVAC solutions. In the U.S., roughly 3,400 former Johnson Controls employees join Bosch, along with manufacturing plants in Norman, Oklahoma, and Wichita, Kansas. In addition to Bosch and Buderus, the acquisition also brings added brands like York in the U.S. and Hitachi in Asia, allowing Bosch to now offer a broader product portfolio. The company’s production network has grown from 17 to 33 plants, and development sites from 14 to 26. Bosch has also appointed a new global executive board for its expanded Home Comfort division.
