FAIRFAX, Texas — The latest Joseph Groh Foundation grant recipient is Jeff Paul of Malden of Massachusetts. Before a life-changing accident, Jeff lived a full and busy life. As both a radiologist and a licensed general contractor, he dedicated his time to improving lives — whether through medical care or home renovations.
His contracting firm specialized in kitchen remodels, finished basements, and porches. But in late 2022, Jeff was involved in a serious car accident that left him paralyzed at the C7 vertebrae. The injury brought his professional life to a halt and led him to rely on Social Security disability. One of the most frustrating challenges he faced was navigating daily routines — especially bathing and using the bathroom — in a home no longer suited to his physical needs.
“My primary goal is to achieve greater independence, especially in tasks like showering,” Jeff told us. “It’s so frustrating not being able to modify my bathroom, handle wiring or plumbing on my own — because I know how.”
Thanks to the generous support of our donors, The Joseph Groh Foundation was able to fund a bathroom remodel that empowers Jeff to reclaim a sense of independence in his everyday life.
