American Gas Association Applauds President Trump’s Action on Energy

WASHINGTON — American Gas Association president and CEO Karen Harbert released the following statement in response to President Trump's signature of several day-one executive orders on inauguration day to empower the rapid construction of new critical energy infrastructure, reverse and review Biden administration policies, and empower consumer choice:
“We applaud President Trump’s decisive action to maximize the benefits from our nation’s abundant and essential energy and to protect consumer choice for each and every American. America needs simple, commonsense reforms to protect our citizens’ access to affordable, efficient, low-emissions and reliable energy and make America competitive and secure. There is still more work to be done to preserve a stronger energy future for our nation. We look forward to working with President Trump, his administration and the 119th Congress to expand America’s economic competitiveness, protect affordability and consumer choice, forward safety and security of our critical infrastructure, enshrine robust permitting reforms into law, and ensure our national security,” said Karen Harbert.

The U.S. possesses 3,353 trillion cubic feet of technically recoverable domestic natural gas resources representing more than 100 years of supply. The natural gas industry is committed to investing, building and innovating for the families and businesses who depend on safe, affordable, and reliable energy every minute of every day.
The average American household that uses natural gas for heating, cooking and clothes drying saves an average of $1,132 per year compared to homes using electricity for those applications — that is a total of $125 billion saved by American families using natural gas over 10 years. Greenhouse gas emissions from residences using natural gas for space heating, water heating, cooking and clothes drying are also about 18% lower than those attributable to an all-electric home.
