Every year, one single outstanding product is chosen out of the thousands of products exhibited on the AHR Expo show floor, and the dozens featured in the AHR Innovation Awards, to be AHR’s Product of the Year. This year that award goes to the winner of the Innovation Awards Heating Category: Nextac, for Ephoca, a reimagined and reengineered PTAC unit. In a video, Ephoca said that while PTACs have seen minimal advancement and are often considered a ‘cheap, low-end’ product, installers have favored them for their ease of installation and affordability. Yet, consumers with PTACs have experienced “poor performance with no better options to fit existing sleeves.” Until Nextac, which uses R32 and features twin rotary compressor, heat pump performance to -10°F, integrated ERV, MERV 13, and more.
