When King Tong graduated his MBA program a little over seven years ago, he was hoping to find a position that blended his engineering background with his marketing interests. He found such a position in the HVAC industry as a product manager at Daikin Comfort Technologies.
“To be honest, I did not plan on sticking around for very long. But working alongside so many great people at Daikin and doing meaningful work that was so impactful for both the company and industry made me throw those initial plans out the window. I enjoy working at Daikin and being in this industry, and I cannot wait to make some more positive change in the world,” Tong said.
King has accomplished much in the past seven years. He led the development and launch of the space-saving AlumaFin7 evaporator coil platform, which won a 2019 ACHR NEWS Dealer Design Award for its innovative, contractor-friendly features.
He has also been instrumental in supporting development and leading commercialization activities for regulatory platform changes (including upcoming 2023 regulations) that are significantly changing the HVAC industry. In addition, he finds enjoyment in supporting the growth of future leaders within Daikin’s product management group.
He is a dynamic speaker who motivates the sales team. He is very knowledgeable in marketing, product management, and engineering and uses that to bring essential products to the North American HVAC market.
“My primary goal is to drive the HVAC industry towards more environmentally friendly solutions through innovative technological development, and relentless and focused educating,” King said.
