Danfoss Wins Product of the Year Award

CHICAGO – The AHR Expo show managers announced Danfoss the winner of its 2018 Product of the Year during a presentation of its annual Innovation Awards. The presentation awarded the Innovation Award winners in each of the 10 categories: building automation, cooling, green building, heating, indoor air quality, plumbing, refrigeration, software, tools and instruments, and ventilation. Danfoss’s Turbocor® TTH/TGH High Lift Compressor was the winner in the Green Building category.
“Our foundation is a prior Innovation Award winner,” said John Galyen, president, North America, Danfoss. “It’s magnetic bearing, so it’s an oil-free compressor. It uses centripetal technology, and up until this point, it was primarily targeted at water-cooled chillers. We’re very proud. For Danfoss, innovation is a cornerstone of our brand. This is actually the 27th award we’ve gotten in the last 15 years. We’re proud to be recognized as Product of the Year.”
Danfoss Turbocor® TTH/TGH High Lift Compressors are optimized for air-cooled chiller and heat recovery applications. Engineered for high-lift applications, including air-cooled chillers and heat recovery, Danfoss Turbocor® TTH/TGH models feature oil-free, variable speed, magnetic bearing operation for outstanding full- and part-load efficiency, low vibration and sound, a small footprint, and reduced maintenance — while providing an expanded operating map suitable for air-cooled chiller and heat recovery applications.
In air-cooled chillers, the product can support operation at high ambient temperatures with pressure ratios as high as 6.2. The high-lift compressors are available in a nominal 325-kW (90 ton) model using R-134a or R-513A (TTH325) and a nominal 250-kW (70 ton) model using low-GWP HFO-1234ze (TGH250).
