SPOKANE, Wash., and BOSTON — Ecova, an energy and sustainability management company, and Powerhouse Dynamics, a supplier of enterprise energy and asset management systems, announced they have expanded their partnership to provide energy management and managed services to retailers, restaurants, and convenience stores. Powerhouse Dynamics brings its SiteSage™ enterprise energy and asset management system to the partnership and Ecova brings its resource monitoring services team. Under the partnership, Ecova offers SiteSage directly to its customers, saving them up to 29 percent by using the combined solution, said the companies.

As energy prices, staffing expenses, and product costs rise, restaurants, convenience stores, and retailers have been challenged to produce profits within tightening margins. Remote equipment control and analytics, asset management, and facility services have become increasingly important in preserving operational efficiency and protecting the bottom line. Increasingly, businesses are implementing energy management systems and services.

“Clients that manage large portfolios of facilities under 10,000 square feet usually have overstretched staff and no effective way to benchmark facilities, track equipment operations in real time, diagnose issues, or assess the ROI of efficiency measures,” said Bob Zak, senior vice president, facility solutions for Ecova. “Traditional energy management systems are not the right fit for this market. With SiteSage, we can give customers total control as well as instant insight down to the equipment level and up to the enterprise level, saving money and time. Additionally, our Operations Control Center can remotely monitor and manage equipment at each of their sites.”

Ecova and Powerhouse Dynamics have already provided this solution to several clients, including Arby’s, who just announced 11 percent total energy reduction per company-owned restaurant since 2011. “Thanks to equipment control and insights from SiteSage, and Ecova’s services interpreting and acting on intelligence generated by the system, Arby’s has seen significant annual savings across its portfolio of company-owned restaurants,” said Frank Inoa, senior director of engineering for Arby’s. This integrated approach offers maximum benefit while minimizing demands on restaurant, retail, and convenience store staff, freeing them to better serve customers.

“Integrating the controls, analytics, and alerts provided by SiteSage with the expert facility management offered by Ecova clearly produces very significant savings for our shared clients,” said Martin Flusberg, CEO of Powerhouse Dynamics. “But energy savings are just one piece of the puzzle. Together, we also deliver preventive maintenance and lifecycle cost reductions, operational insight and efficiency, and best-in-class service. It’s an unbeatable package.”
