Project Files: A Symphony of Silent Comfort
Company: Delta Cooling Towers Inc.
Customer: Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center (Atlanta)
Installation: Two sets of twin-cell Delta TM Series 500-ton cooling towers, each featuring a 20-year warranty on corrosion and other physical damage.
Completion: Early 2014
Objective: Remove the ‘rushing noise’ generated by the facility’s previous HVAC cooling tower, which left concert attendees somewhat distracted and annoyed.
Work Completed: Two cooling towers featuring a HDPE (high-density polyethylene) design pioneered by Delta Cooling Towers were installed, primarily to solve corrosion problems and reduce noise.
Quote: “We found those [HDPE-based] cooling towers were very quiet and would provide the sound insulation needed without having to go to a special quiet tower package, which would really increase the cost.” — Steve Trott, director of engineering, full spectrum arts center campus
