EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. — Following its inaugural year success, hilmor announced that it is bringing back its Retool Your Future scholarship program. Designed to help current and future HVACR students get professional tools in their hands before entering the industry, the scholarship contest will now award six grand prizes, twice as many as last year. Each winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship, hilmor tools, and a trip to the 2015 AHR Expo in Chicago.

“hilmor created the Retool Your Future program to support the next generation of HVACR technicians and help students build a successful future in the HVACR industry,” said Andrea Halpin, senior marketing manager. “Last year’s program was a great success, producing some very inspiring stories from more than 550 submissions. We want to build on that success by awarding more winners and expanding the contest to Canada.”

To ensure that these aspiring HVACR technicians are well equipped with the proper tools to enter the industry, hilmor is outfitting each grand prize winner with a hilmor HVACR Starter Kit. This tool package includes a dual readout thermometer, 2-valve aluminum manifold, quick-engage flare and swage kit, and a quick-change magnetic nut driver, as well as a 60-inch hose set, 9 in 1 multi-tool, tri-tube bender, service wrenches, deburrer, hex key folding set, inspection mirror, and a backpack tool bag. In addition, the six scholarship winners’ schools will receive a hilmor Green Wall, valued at $5,000, consisting of more than 40 HVACR tools, including hilmor’s new line of tubing cutters. Available in small and large diameter sizes, the tubing cutters help technicians make one-handed, precision cuts that don’t tear, pinch, or kink copper and aluminum tubes.

To enter, students who are currently enrolled in or have applied for admission into an established, recognized HVACR school, can submit a 250-word essay explaining how the HVACR industry will “retool their life.” For contest rules and information on how to enter, visit www.retoolyourfuture.com. The contest closes Sept. 30, 2014. For more information on last year’s winners’ stories, visit hilmor’s YouTube channel.
