ARLINGTON, Va. — ACCA, the indoor environment and energy efficiency association, announced that registration is now open for its Service Managers Forum, which is taking place Oct. 9-10 at the Sheraton Charlotte Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina. This event is presented by ACCA and The NEWS.

The Service Managers Forum is one of ACCA’s most popular managers’ meetings, and it is returning for its seventh year with a new lineup of learning labs to help both veteran and new service managers. ACCA noted that it worked with service managers from top contracting companies around the country to create learning labs that cover topics that service managers need to know to be successful.

Kicking off the Service Managers Forum is Mike Hourigan, who has spent the past 30-plus years empowering the country’s top companies to navigate constant change with real-world wisdom. During the opening session, “The Science & Art of Leadership,” Hourigan will share both the art and science approach to topics such as: distinguishing yourself as a leader; inspiring people who are older or younger than you; delegating responsibility and still getting the results you want; avoiding “buddy or boss” syndrome; and praising employees for repeated results.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to choose from eight learning labs that cover residential and commercial topics and two learning labs that cover leadership topics. The two leadership learning labs will be repeated, so that attendees will have the opportunity to go to both. Some of those learning labs include:

• “Empower Your Customers to Make The Best Choice” with Tim Touhy, Universe Appliance

• “Maintaining a Quality Service Brand Across Multiple Operations” with Mike Rackers, CroppMetcalfe Services

• “The Tough Get Going” with Sal Vigilante, Vigilante Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning

• “Ten Tips for Running a Successful Service Department” with Eric Knaack, Isaac Heating & Air Conditioning Inc.

• “Taking Back Control of Your Service Department” with Frank Besednjak, The Training Source

• “The Manager and Mentorship Manifesto” with Steve Coscia, Coscia Communications

“The Service Managers Forum continues to be one of our most popular educational events each year and we are excited to be going to Charlotte, North Carolina, for our seventh year,” said Kevin Holland, ACCA’s senior vice president – business operations & membership. “We’ve packed the schedule with a brand new lineup of learning labs that focuses on management principles that all service managers need to be successful. We’ve brought back some of our most popular speakers and have sought out some new speakers who have experience in not just HVAC, but also plumbing and electrical. This event is about learning, growing, and helping attendees move to the next level of success. By expanding the fields of experience our speakers have, we are pulling in new perspectives that will offer fresh ideas for attendees to take back and improve their operations.”

Attendees also will be able to spend some time talking to some of the top manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers in the industry in the Sponsor Showcase. Sponsors include: AC Leak Freeze; Bristol Compressors; Callahan Roach; CallSource; Danfoss; Data-Basics; Davisware; Emerson; Jackson Systems; Mitsubishi; NATE; Nexstar; PowerSelling Pros; Precision Recruiter; Service Automation; Trane; and Ultra-Aire.

Registration is open at www.servicemanagersforum.com or by calling Vickie Ellis at 703-824-8856.
