The latest generation of 2-5 ton Copeland Scroll™ variable-speed compressor and motor control drive enables system manufacturers to achieve 25-plus SEER and 13-plus HSPF, the company said. The compressor features a new scroll design along with an enhanced speed range of 900-7,200 rpm to allow precise building load matching and improved dehumidification. Additionally, to meet the growing demand for variable-speed technology, the compressor will be offered in both air-to-air and water-source variations, enabling geothermal hot water heating applications. The motor control drive has embedded CoreSense™ technology and uses active algorithms to detect and prevent compressor failure.
