For use in chilled water, geothermal, condenser water, and other applications, 4-inch pipe has been added to the Blue Pipe® SDR 17.6 faser-composite line. The polypropylene pipe (PP-R) systems are connected via heat fusion, which bonds pipe and fitting at a molecular level, creating a connection that lasts a lifetime and eliminates toxic materials, glues, resins, and open flames from piping installations, said the company. The faser-composite layer is the manufacturer’s proprietary blend of fiberglass and PP-R, which allows the pipe to remain rigid at higher temperatures and helps to limit expansion and contraction. The pipe is noncorrosive, nontoxic, does not contain phthalates or BPA, is lead-free, and is chemically inert. According to the manufacturer, its PP-R has a low friction factor, requires less energy to manufacture than other piping products, and is
fully recyclable.
