CHICAGO — Master-Bilt announced that its Master Controller, featuring Web2Walk-In software, is now Apple iOS compatible, making remote monitoring and adjustment of walk-ins accessible from any device with an Internet connection including a PC, Mac, smartphone, or tablet. The new Master Controller will debut at the 2014 National Restaurant Show, May 17-20, at Chicago’s McCormick Place, booth #4257.

In addition to iOS compatibility, a new defrost function built into the Master Controller’s Web2Walk-In software monitors coil temperature and automatically turns on evaporator fans for a short time when the coil is warm to melt accumulated frost and ice from the fan guards. This function prevents ice formation from blocking the cold airflow, resulting in more efficient cooling and also lowering the risk of temperature fluctuations inside the walk-in caused by the constant opening and closing of walk-in doors, said the company. This new function may be accessed through the control panel located on the evaporator coil or through the Web2Walk-In setpoints screen on any computer, tablet, or smartphone.

The company said Web2Walk-In provides continuous access to data that can be used to improve refrigeration system operation. The software can help pinpoint walk-in performance and service issues, eliminating the need to enter the walk-in or access rooftop equipment to monitor or adjust the refrigeration system.
