March 13, 2014: AHRI Signs Agreement with ANCE to Harmonize HVACR Standards
Organizations to Work Together in Developing Standards and Certification Programs
ARLINGTON, Va. — The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) has signed an agreement on standards and certification with the Asociación de Normalización y Certificación A.C. (ANCE), a Mexican standards developer, to promote standards development and harmonization of the United States and Mexican HVACR and water heating industries.
“This agreement will allow us to work together in developing product performance standards and certification programs that benefit consumers and manufacturers alike,” said Stephen Yurek, AHRI president and CEO. “We will also continue efforts to harmonize Mexican and AHRI standards for HVACR and water heating products.”
The organizations plan to jointly sponsor an industry roundtable to address the development of product performance standards and certification programs, and to explore ways to avoid duplication of effort in each country.
