WESTPORT, Conn. — The winners of the 2014 AHR Expo Innovation awards recently were announced and will be honored at a special ceremony Jan. 22 at the 2014 AHR Expo in New York City.

A panel of judges made up of ASHRAE members evaluated the products submitted based on innovation, application, value to the user, and market impact.

In the building automation category Belimo Aircontrols (USA), Inc. won with its Belimo BAS Data Logging Energy Valve. In cooling, it was Emerson Climate Technologies and its Next Generation Copeland Scroll Variable Speed compressor product line. In the green building category, Lafert North America’s High Performance Metric Motors won. In heating, it was WaterFurnace Intl. Inc. with its 7 Series 700A11 Geothermal Heat Pump.

In IAQ, Neptronic’s SKD Direct Multi-Steam Injection Humidifier took honors. In plumbing, Rheem Mfg. Co. won with its Prestige Series Hybrid Electric Heat Pump Water Heater. In refrigeration, Danfoss won with its ADAP-KOOL® System Manager AK-SM 800 Series. In software, HVAC Solution Inc. was honored for its Revit Connection 2.0 BIM Software Add-in.

In tools & instruments, Imperial’s iManifold was honored, while in ventilation, Big Ass Fans won with its Haiku Ceiling Fan.

Many others earned honorable mentions, including American Auto-Matrix’s AspectFT 2.0 Web-enabled BAS; Distech Controls Inc.’s Programmable VAV Controller (IRC); SenseAir North America’s tSense True Read CO2, RH, and Temp Transmitter; tekmar Control Systems’ Flexible, Multi-Stage Boiler Control 284; Baltimore Aircoil Co.’s New Series 3000 Cooling Tower; Carrier’s Toshiba Carrier Heat Recovery Variable Refrigerant Flow System; and Lordo America’s Qtube Flexible Composite A/C and Refrigeration Lines, in the building automation category.

In the green building category, Advantix Systems’ DT-X Desiccant Dehumidification Technology; ebm-papst Inc.’s RadiPac Series — K3G630 Plug Fan; and Zehnder Rittling’s ZIP Radiant Heating Ceiling Panels were honored.

In heating, Carrier’s Infinity 18VS Variable Speed Heat Pump, LG Electronics USA Inc.’s Art Cool Premier High Efficiency Duct Free Heat Pump, Mitsubishi Electric US Cooling & Heating Division’s H2i R2-Series VRF Heat Pump, Trane’s TruComfort Variable Speed Split System Heat Pump, and Weil-McLain’s SlimFit Commercial High-Efficiency Condensing Boiler were honored.

In the IAQ category, Belimo Aircontrols (USA) Inc.’s ZIP Air-Side Economizer, Best Living Systems LLC’s MCI for Air Filtration, Plasma Air Intl.’s BAR Bipolar Ion Generator, and Ultravation Inc.’s UVXact UV-C Intensity Monitor were recognized.

In plumbing, Caleffi Hydronic Solutions’ QuickSetter Balancing Valve, Navien America’s NPE-180/210/2405 Condensing Gas Tankless Water Heater, and Watt Water Technologies Inc.’s Triton Pipe Fusion System were recognized.

In refrigeration, Baltimore Aircoil Co.’s Trillium Series Adiabatic Condenser, Bitzer Kuhlmaschinenbau GmbH’s New Ecoline Varispeed Reciprocating Compressor, Samsung Electronics’ Ultra T-20 Rotary Compressor, and Parker Hannifin-Sporlan Division’s ZoomLine Refrigerant Line Assembly were honored.

In the software category, Carrier’s ComfortDRAW Design Tool for BAS, Emerson Climate Technologies’ HVAC Check & Charge Mobile App, and Maxwell Systems’ ProContractorMX Mobile Connect Annotation Tool for iPad were recognized.

In tools & instruments, Fluke Corp.’s VT04 Visual IR Thermometer, Goodway Technologies Corp.’s RAM-PRO-XL Tube Cleaner, and hilmor’s Compact Swage Tool were honored.

In the ventilation category, Airius LLC’s Air Pear Destratification Fan, Aldes’ VentZone Zoned IAQ with Heat Recovery Kit, Building Performance Equipment Inc.’s Energy Recovery Ventilator, Modine Mfg. Co.’s Airedale ClassMate Vertical DX & Heat Pump Ventilation System, and Rosenberg USA Inc.’s B-Wheel Backward Curved Fan Impeller received honorable mention.
