Ductless Systems, Air Handlers Show Highest Increase in Third Quarter

Residential Furnace and Unit Heater Shipments Showed the Second Largest Gains

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — During the third quarter 2013, both ductless split system and air handler unit shipments showed the largest gains, increasing by 37 percent, according to the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI).

Residential furnace and unit heater shipments showed the second largest gains, increasing by 15 percent. A modest gain was also shown in commercial air conditioner shipments by 6 percent.

Other sectors showed decreases including chiller bookings by 13 percent and residential air conditioner shipments by 1 percent compared to the third quarter 2012.
