AC Installation Optimization One-Day Training Program

Sponsoring Organization: Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI)

Date: Dec. 12

Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Course Description: The training course stresses the importance of best-practice installation methods for energy-efficient equipment and is based on the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) C273.5-11 Standard “Installation of Air Source Heat Pumps and Air Conditioners.” This course, delivered by HRAI on behalf of the Ontario Power Authority (OPA), will cover six key installation factors directly affecting system efficiency: proper duct design and sealing, system sizing, accurate coil matching with condensing unit, correct airflow over an indoor coil, correct refrigerant charge, and complete commissioning.

The one-day program focuses on the opportunities for maximizing energy efficiency and occupant comfort when installing equipment, and was developed for technicians, salespersons, and system designers. Upon successful completion, each attendee will receive a course certificate.

As of Jan. 1, 2014, only contractors who have completed this mandatory training will be eligible to participate in the saveONenergy Heating & Cooling Incentives (HCI) program.
