Designed for brazing copper tubular components for HVACR installation applications, the Sil-Fos 15 rings use a calculated alloy volume for use with standard size copper tube from 1/4 to 1 1/8 inch. According to the manufacturer, the advantage of using these rings is consistent and repeatable joint quality while controlling alloy usage, and they are easy to use, minimize waste, and provide visual verification of a complete, sound braze joint. To use, clean the areas to be brazed, insert the ring into the fitting, insert the tube to seat the ring at the bottom, uniformly apply heat, and upon melting, the filler metal is drawn through the joint via capillary to the exterior surface. A witness line of alloy at the exterior joint ensures that complete alloy penetration has been successfully completed.
