The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has named Hoshizaki America Inc. as a 2012 Award for Excellence in Energy Star Promotion winner for “outstanding contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by sponsoring significant consumer education efforts promoting energy-efficient products.”

The accomplishment was recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., which marked the 20th anniversary of Energy Star.

Hoshizaki America Inc., an Energy Star partner since 2003, said it was being honored for its work in promoting products and programs that meet Energy Star guidelines for energy efficiency.

“Hoshizaki America Inc. works responsibly to provide original products which are good for the environment with clear benefits for our customers. Our strategic environmental plan is based on ISO14001, which stipulates the development of energy saving products, conservation, and preservation practice,” the company said.

The company noted its top three Energy Star accomplishments align with Energy Star’s goals of helping consumers identify and select products with superior energy efficiencies.

1. Products: “Our engineer and design team has set Energy Star criteria as our development baseline. Hoshizaki’s products rate ‘Most Efficient’ in all categories reported.”

2. Corporate Responsibility: “Sustainability, reduction of HFC, recycling, water conservation, and community are action plans at Hoshizaki.”

3. Consumer Education: “In 2008, Hoshizaki began a campaign of education on product efficiency. By 2011, it reached new levels as Energy Star visibility was a mainstay of any marketing medium and training throughout Hoshizaki.”
