WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a notice in the Federal Register announcing that it will establish a committee to provide advice and recommendations to the Secretary of Energy on matters concerning its Appliances and Commercial Equipment Standards Program’s test procedures and rulemaking process.

The Appliance Standards and Rulemaking Federal Advisory Committee will provide advice and make recommendations on the (1) development of minimum efficiency standards for residential appliances and commercial equipment, (2) development of product test procedures, (3) certification and enforcement of standards, (4) labeling for various residential products and commercial equipment, and (5) specific issues of concern to DOE.

In addition, the notice requests nominations for members to serve on the committee. The nominee’s name, resume, biography, and any letters of support must be submitted in electronic format via email to asrac@ee.doe.gov. Requests for further information should also be sent via email to asrac@ee.doe.gov.

The deadline for nominations is April 2, 2012.
