MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — The Electrical Safety Authority recently notified manufacturers that electrical products are no longer required to be registered with the ESA under the system they created in Ontario to administer the Product Safety Regulation (O. Reg. 438/07).

Refund checks were sent to program registrants of any fees collected during the original registration period. The Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH) also understands that the refunded amount will include an allocation for interest earned.

While registration is no longer mandatory, the Product Safety Regulation still requires that all serious incidents, accidents, or defects be reported as set out in the Ontario Regulation and guidelines.
