Home » Omega Flex Inc.: Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing
TracPipe® CounterStrike® corrugated stainless steel tubing (CSST) is based on the company’s existing TracPipe CSST product, but is engineered to significantlydecrease the potential for lightning-induced damage to fuel gas piping systems. It has been designed with a proprietary jacket material in place of the standard yellow jacket. The black jacket has energy-dissipating properties that will help protect the stainless steel pressure liner as well as other fuel gas system components if the CounterStrike becomes energized due to lightning. The tubing resists a minimum of 4.5 coulombs of arcing energy; more than twice the maximum expected inside a building during an indirect lightning event, the company says. It satisfies plenum installation requirements, with a flame spread index of less than 25 and a smoke developed index of less than 50, and is UL-listed for 1-, 2-, and 4-hour firewall penetrations.
