The theme of Daikin’s sales meeting in San Diego was “Daikin AC, Tomorrow’s New Classic.”

CARROLLTON, Texas - Daikin AC (Americas) Inc. recently hosted the 3rd Annual Daikin AC Sales Meeting in San Diego for its HVAC distributors. In addition to a product trade show, helpful workshops, and a general session, Daikin also recognized top-performing customers in several categories.

Distributors from the United States, Canada, and Bermuda attended the meeting to learn about enhancements to Daikin AC’s product offering as well as strategies and programs designed to help improve productivity and sales.

“This year’s theme ‘Daikin AC, Tomorrow’s New Classic,’ invited our customers to learn how Daikin’s outstanding products share the attributes of quality and lasting value with the classic cars, movies, and music that were incorporated into the meeting’s activities,” explained Christina Trondsen, Daikin AC’s director of marketing.

The meeting was held at the Hotel del Coronado, built in 1888. As a national historic landmark, “The Del” is considered an American treasure. One famous guest at the hotel was the late Marilyn Monroe, who filmed the classic comedy “Some Like It Hot” on the premises in 1959. Daikin brought the world-famous Marilyn Monroe impersonator Susan Griffiths back to the Del to welcome customers to the kick-off meeting of the general session.

During the rest of the conference, customers attended informative workshops designed to help distributors sharpen their skills and promote the Daikin brand. They learned how to effectively merchandise their locations, and determine the true cost of owning the extremely efficient Daikin Altherma. They heard how one established distributor grew sales of Daikin’s product by nearly 800 percent in one year, and took home vital information about enhancements to the product line.

Guests also enjoyed a beach party at the hotel featuring classic cars from the 1950s and the classic rock and roll music of the Surf City All Stars, a band made up of original members of the iconic Beach Boys.

Daikin AC recognized top-performing distributors in several categories. Market Share Leadership Awards for the top five distributorships with the highest sales of Daikin’s split systems products in 2009 were presented to Behler-Young Co., EMCO Corp., FW Webb Co., Idaho Green Supply, and The Star Supply Co.

The Best Sales Increase award recognized the greatest percentage increase in overall sales from 2008 through 2009, and was awarded to Behler-Young Co., The Star Supply Co., Air Care Ltd., Air Care Products Inc., and ACES A/C Supply North.

The DNA Dealers Achievement Award was given to the top distributors with the most sales from contractors who are enrolled in the Daikin Network Alliance (DNA), a group of professional contractors meeting training and registration requirements. Winners included Behler-Young Co., Coastline Distribution, Mar-Hy Distributors, The Star Supply Co., and The Wallwork Group.

Behler-Young Co., based in Michigan, also received the Pinnacle Award from Daikin AC.
