ARLINGTON, Va. - The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) renewed a testing contract with General Machinery Product Inspection Institute (GMPI) of Hefei, China, on Feb. 1. The agreement contracted GMPI to conduct all water-cooled chiller tests for products manufactured in China.

Under this contract, GMPI will perform both annual and qualification testing throughout China. Last year, GMPI worked with the China Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Industry Association (CRAA), AHRI’s sister association and exclusive certification agent in China, to assist in bringing two new Chinese certification participants, Gree and TICA, into the AHRI Water-Cooled Chiller Certification program.

“With the extension of GMPI’s contract to conduct chiller testing in China, AHRI is well poised to meet the growing interest in AHRI’s chiller certification program from Chinese manufacturers,” said Stephen Yurek, AHRI president and CEO. “This agreement is an important step in what we hope and expect will be an ongoing, very productive relationship.”
