RICHARDSON, Texas - In recognition of Fire Safety Month, Service Experts announced that it is providing furnace and air conditioning tuneups and carbon monoxide detectors to needy senior citizens in nine United States communities as selected by local human services agencies.
Service Experts, a leading North American provider of heating and cooling installation, maintenance, and repair services, is encouraging consumers to recognize Fire Safety Month and take the time to ensure their home’s heating system is running safely and at top efficiency.
According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), more than 3,500 people die each year in residential fires. FEMA reports that about half of those fire deaths are children or senior citizens (ages 65 or older). To avoid such tragedy and to assist families with important preparation and prevention steps, Service Experts said it is implementing this campaign, including providing consumers with a free downloadable home safety kit that is available at www.serviceexperts.com/specialoffers.
The company said a major home safety precaution for furnace and air conditioning systems that homeowners can take is to have an HVAC technician conduct a safety check and tuneup.
“Twice a year checks of a home ventilating system provide significant peace of mind for homeowners where fire prevention is a concern,” said Ian McKeen, vice president of marketing for Service Experts. “We encourage homeowners to develop the habit of having their HVAC system checked so problems can be identified before permanent system damage or fire can take place. Carbon monoxide leaks from gas appliances are a silent killer but often one of the dangers that homeowners are least aware of. We are encouraging our centers in both the U.S and Canada to work with their local fire departments to educate and engage the public on this issue.”
To encourage air conditioner and furnace check-ups, consumers who schedule a tuneup with participating centers during October will receive special Fire Safety Month pricing and may also receive a free carbon monoxide detector.
“We want consumers to know that Service Experts is committed to both service and safety,” said McKeen. “Fire Safety Month in October is the perfect time to remind homeowners that good home comfort system maintenance is a key to protection.”
In addition to the home safety kit, Service Experts is also offering a free safety tip every day during October on Facebook and Twitter.
