ARLINGTON, Va. - The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) is seeking nominations for its Contractors of the Year awards program. The application for the 2011 program is available now on ACCA’s website, so contractors can nominate themselves for their innovative business practices. Applications for the program will be accepted until Oct. 22.

“Since the program was completely revamped for 2010, we took that process and tweaked it slightly to gather a little more information upfront about companies being nominated,” said Melissa Broadus, director of communications for ACCA. “We feel the few additions to the process will help the judges make the best decisions, based on a broader scope.”

The ACCA Contractors of the Year awards program provides ACCA members with a unique marketing opportunity for their businesses. “As with last year’s program, the two companies selected as Contractors of the Year will be featured on the cover of Contractor Excellence [magazine] with feature stories,” added Broadus. “The other finalists will also have feature profiles run on the Contractor Excellence website.”

Once the nomination deadline has passed, all Contractors of the Year nominees will be evaluated and six finalists will be selected - three residential finalists and three commercial finalists. Those finalists will be contacted to create informational profiles for inclusion in the official judging packet. These profiles will describe the company, as well as the unique aspects of the business. The official judging packets, including the six write-ups, will be judged by a panel of ACCA’s past chairmen. The winners - one residential, one commercial - will be recognized on stage at the annual ACCA conference.
