The York® Model YCWL water-cooled scroll chillers now includes sizes ranging from 50 to 200 tons of refrigeration (175 to 700 kW). According to the company, the chillers are the first chillers to use scroll compressors that are optimized for water-cooled rather than air-cooled duty, so the high-performance chillers can achieve an energy efficiency ratio (EER) as high as 16.2 at full load and 24.5 at part-load conditions. Charged with R-410A refrigerant, which has no ozone-depletion potential and no phaseout schedule, the compact chillers are designed to fit through a standard 3-foot door for ease of installation in both new and retrofit applications. Also offered is a heat-pump mode for recovery of waste heat, bringing significant operating-cost savings to building owners.
