MINNEAPOLIS - McQuay International, a member of the Daikin Group, has announced the acquisition of HydroKool LLC, a custom HVAC manufacturer headquartered in Phoenix. HydroKool was previously owned by Tri-City Mechanical, a division of Comfort Systems USA. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

According to the company, HydroKool is a leading manufacturer of custom pre-engineered HVAC solutions, including McQuay’s Modular Central Plants, which offer a cost-effective alternative to site-built central plants with pre-engineered, pre-assembled modules offering high-efficiency chillers, cooling tower, pumps and piping. HydroKool’s design and flexible manufacturing capabilities will be expanded to support McQuay Solutions Group

“Our customers have asked us for highly-efficient, custom packaged HVAC solutions for their commercial and industrial applications. The acquisition of HydroKool greatly expands our own in-house manufacturing capabilities to deliver these solutions and meet customer needs,” said Ron Hanlon, chief operating officer, McQuay Americas. “Integrating HydroKool’s extensive design and manufacturing expertise will also strengthen our custom application platforms.”

“HydroKool has a long standing relationship with McQuay. We are very excited about the future opportunities this will create for everyone who has worked diligently to create a superior product that represents the future of the HVAC Industry,” said Joe Nichter, president of Tri-City Mechanical. “Combining highly efficient chillers, like the Daikin McQuay Magnitude™ Magnetic Bearing Chiller, with HydroKool’s pre-engineered system design expertise will allow McQuay to provide unique solutions for many new customers.”
