NORWALK, Conn. - EMCOR Group Inc. announced that its Government Services unit was awarded a contract that commenced June 1, 2008, to provide facilities services at the Hubert H. Humphrey Building in Washington, D.C. The contract, which is for an initial period of nine months with the option of the U.S. government to extend it for four successive one-year periods, would have a total value to EMCOR Government Services of $15.5 million.

The Government Services unit’s responsibilities at the 876,000-square-foot Hubert Humphrey Building include operations and maintenance, janitorial, and grounds maintenance. The contract is being serviced by 16 full-time employees and up to four part-time employees. Named in 1977 for former U.S. Vice President Hubert Humphrey, the eight-story facility has served as the headquarters for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services since 1975.
