Tom Rechtin Heating and Air Conditioning Co. was awarded second place in the Most Original Category of the Ft. Thomas, Ky., Independence Day Parade. The company’s entry included a 1929 Ford Model A pick up, a 1929 Model A coupe, a 1941 Ford panel van, and a 1941 Dodge stake body carrying the firm’s famous tin man, “Uncle Sam.” Sam’s costume was designed and fashioned by Tom Rechtin Sr.’s wife, Wanda, and his neighbor, Susan Stanga.
